Next Gen Boxster Caught During Snow Testing

Next Gen Boxster Caught During Snow Testing
Porsche’s all-new Boxster is shaping up! Beneath its ever-shrinking disguise, the secrets of next year’s two-seater cabrio are beginning to emerge.

The styling is a logical evolution of the current model, but more aggressively contoured bumpers with angular air vents give the car, codenamed 981, a more masculine look. At the side, the vents for the engine are smaller and neater, while at the rear, the LED lights draw inspiration from the Panamera.

So far, so good. A nice mix of 986 and 987 styling and fortunately no big changes.

I wonder if the new turbo flat 4 will be the "base" engine while the higher output 6 is the "S", it would make sense considering the turbo 4 is expected to produce over 250HP, this would match the current base engine's output.

Hmmm, the base Boxster actually may handle even better due to the lighter weight of the flat 4.

I think the turbo four will make it's way into European spec cars, but because I doubt Porsche will bring the four to the USA, why leave $10k+ on the table and in consumers' pockets.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm starting to see the early makings of a "Kamm Tail" look in the rear. The rear looks higher and more squared off. The front fenders are more curvasous then before. The headlamps are a bit longer. I've always said that Porsche's mid engined 904 was one of if not the prettiest models Porsche ever produced. It looks like the Boxster/Cayman design is moving in this direction. If that is the case all the better. As for the 2.5 flat four I predict this. It will first appear on the new "baby" Porsche in NA form making (I'm guessing here) 210 HP and 185 LBs of torque. If they are going to put it in the larger Boxster Cayman it will most likely be turbocharged making similar if not slightly better HP outputs then the flat 6 is making now.I think it will ultimately show up here in the US because of the fuel economy, carbon footprint requirements.

Why are they testing the new Boxster? Isn't it the same Boxster they tested last year. LOL. They all look the same. Just some minor tweaks aesthetically and maybe interior. Mechanically, it might have the new flat 4.
