2012 Acura TL To Debut In Chicago, What's It Need To Be A BETTER Car?
If you have not noticed, Acura has begun to make some changes to its beaky automobiles. You know, not so long ago Acura introduced its fleet with a whole new grill that was either appreciated or hated. Well, although the firm has not entirely backpedaled from this design, it has begun to give its lineup little changes to detract from the gigantic, shiny schnoz.

According to Carscoop, the 2012 Acura TL is next up for its refresh; however, Acura remains tight-lipped about what it will be doing.

With that said, we look to you to discuss what would make a TL more lustful...

Discuss!

The next Chicago Auto Show, to be held for the public from February 11 to 20, will host the debut of the updated for the updated Acura TL. Honda's luxury division simply stated that the TL will be "newly refined" for the 2012 model year, without releasing any more details...

Well.. Acuras have always been very nice with reliability and technology.... they have had very nice cars in the past so now what could possibly go wrong.... oh wait! How could I have been blind enough to miss the hideous looks?

Pay Pininfarina real money for a design people want. Is it that hard? Sheeesh.

Acura is a nice car but it's nothing special, it's just a nice car. They need to do something about the styling, there's just nothing special about it. They need to simplify the interior a little, it always just seems too busy.

They need to first get rid of the grille and the rest of the ugly face they are now pushing on us. I would have to agree with Quizz. They need to take a step out of their comfort zone (and into ours) and get a design house to do something for them. Pininfarina would be great. Can you imagine an Acura with the company "f" on the fenders? Oh...the possibilities.

Now that you have the TSX topping out in the $40's with the V-6, my suggestions are simple:

1. Improve the styling: build quality, technology and value are there
2. Lower the price: loose some of the hard-core tech and slim down the body size to get the price right.

They did that already, and you can have a first generation TSX for low 20's and high teens nowadays.

The best thing going for the TL is that you can have SH-AWD with a 6-speed manual. Even though they account for .0001% of the sales.

The beak could be toned down but aside from that I think the car looks great. We know the 6sp auto transmission is coming (rather have a 7 or 8 but it will have to do). Would like to see them bring the noise reduction enhancements from the RL to the TL, as the SH-AWD rides pretty noisily. Need a comfort ride option for the SH-AWD as well, along with adaptive cruise and ventilated seats. Is that enough?

Really wouldn't hurt to bring back some "legendary" names of the past!!!

A real chassis, a real designer that can put pen to paper and get Honda to take a chance visually. And still not a player. On second thought, just drop the car!

Scrap the current design and start over. Get rid of the beak. Stop trying to be a Japanese Buick.

I agree the interior is fine on the TL, but the front & rear just can't be "refreshed" that design is too far gone they must be completely redesigned. I still can't believe Acura did this, the previous generation is still a great looking car....
