What? Subaru Skips Super Bowl Advertising In Favor Of Puppy Bowl?
There's a lot of chatter in marketing circles about the auto industry's return to Super Bowl advertising. Because the spots are so expensive -- around $3 million per 30-second ad -- this year's demand for airtime is seen as an indicator of strength in the automotive sector. But one of 2010's most successful car companies has turned its back on the Big Game, having chosen to sponsor Animal Planet's annual "Puppy Bowl" instead -- and to prove its love of pets, Subaru is even giving away free doggie treats via Facebook.

009, I know spellcheck is a foreign concept to you, but are you just as clueless when it comes to marketing and advertising? Obviously, Subaru is targeting a specific demographic. Rather than spending a small fortune on Superbowl mass advertising, they have instead opted to pay far less for a more concentrated target audience.

I agree with you HSC 100%. Subaru is doing the right thing. In the US, Audi is following a similar strategy by only advertising on Sunday in most markets.

Makes me want to run out and buy a Subie! (Actually, I already have one... '11, Outback LTD, V6. Leather, nice stereo, good AC. And according to the trip computer, gets 32 MPG on the highway. Nice little hauler for those who need one.

Forgot to add one important feature. LOTS of head room for tall guys.... available without sunroof, too.

I like Subies as well, but the front seats are too wide! I'm not a small guy, but I float(laterally) in those seats.
