GM CEO Dan Akerson's new task: try building cars that buyers want
A change has come over General Motors Co. as its 2009 bankruptcy and subsequent restructuring permitted it to get rid of many of its contractual and financial obligations and the company can now focus on its customers. For at least the last two decades, GM’s senior managers prioritized factors other than their customers. For instance, there are times when its cars would be designed to match the capabilities of its manufacturing plants, or just so that its dealers have something to sell.

The Sonic is a revamped Aveo. The new Cruz is new to us but just about nobody else in the world. Both the Sonic and Cruz are products developed by Daewoo with some input from Opel. The Buick Verano is a reskined Cruz with a shiney new badge. Where is this ALL Chevy.

Make cars that buyers want. Does that mean make cars people *desires*, instead of settle for? I think that's a plan! Go GM!!

CTS and variants -- sedan, wagon, coupe, V series, Escalade, a DTS / STS replacement, a re-badged GMC Yukon Denali based on the Escalade for the "middle" market.

Hmmm, let's see...small, medium, large, SUV, sports car (ish)..I think we are good here!

Caddy is a wasteland. They have one car (CTS) that has now become 45 variants. Same old GM tune.

Where is the 1-series competitor?
Where is the 3-series competitor?
Where is the 7-series competitor?
Where is the R8 competitor?
Where is the roadster competitor?

I won't even talk about all of the old crap (DTS, Escalade, etc) that they are still trying to pass off onto buyers. Again, same old GM tune.
