Ford Idling F-Series Plant For One Week, Is This A GOOD Sign For The Economy?

What do you make of this? One of Ford's bestselling products has recently hit some tough times as the factory that builds the F-Series was idled for one week.

According to a Ford spokesman, Todd Nissen, the parts aren't faulty.

This isn't the first time that there have been what appear to be "growing pains" since demand has decided to pick up. Back in December there was another delay due to a lack of parts.

With hybrid sales reportedly down and assuming this shows us that truck sales are back on the upswing, are we back on the same track of destruction? Remember, analysts are saying that gas prices will be increasing shortly, then again, what do those guys know?


Ford Motor Co (F.N) said it has idled for a week the plant where it makes most of its best-selling Ford F-150 pickup trucks.

A shortage of parts for 3.7-liter V6 engines and the new 3.5-liter "EcoBoost" V6 engines is the cause of the shutdown at the Dearborn, Michigan, truck plant, said Ford spokesman Todd Nissen.

The engines are made at a Ford plant in Cleveland...

Hell GM has put on an entire shift in Flint MI to keep up with pickup demand. Trucks sales going in in the dead winter while gas prices rise to speaks a lot for the economy.

I am curious if the new Ecoboost V-6 is actually better on fuel than the 5.4? They are on holidays because there supplier can't keep up with the V-6, not lack of demand for them.

Truckman your right. Its a lack of parts from the supplier. It has idled one shift at the Winsor plant that makes Chrysler minivans also.
