Still Purging The Backlog? Toyota Took Almost Two Years To Submit Latest Recall For Fuel Leaks
Toyota Motor Corp. took almost two years to submit Wednesday's U.S. recall of Lexus models after the automaker's initial investigation of a potential gasoline leak failed to find defects in the cars' fuel-line components.

Toyota, the world's largest automaker, voluntarily recalled around 245,000 Lexus IS and GS luxury cars in the U.S. to inspect and tighten fuel-pressure sensors.

More than 10,000 Lexus models sold in Europe are also part of the Japanese's automaker's global 1.7 million-car recall to fix a variety of fuel system, pressure sensors and spare-tire carriers related problems.

They have a legal requirement to report it with in I believe 90 days.

They are still purging the cover ups from the past administration

90 days from what? It took 2 years to find the problem and then a report was probably submitted. It was then followed by this recall, which is voluntary and global, not NHTSA mandated, so I think Toyota did a great job.

this problem was diagnosed 2 years ago. It didn't take two years to find... but you wouldn't be able to tell the difference you are a toyota faithful. (faithful as in believing in without proof)

If it took 2 years to figure it out then they have other problems. The article states they first discovered the leaks but took 2 years to report them.

This is pretty scary if you think about it. Just how many more issues are laying around out there dated after this?

The truth must be hurting these Toyota Fans. But rather than argue a valid point, they're content to de-boost. The word "Acknowledge" must not be in their vocabulary when it comes to Toyota messing up. They remind me of a dumb over-proud parent who refuses to acknowledge that their child is messing up.

"automaker's initial investigation of a potential gasoline leak failed to find defects in the cars' fuel-line components."

"The time needed to uncover the problem isn't unusual, given how complex vehicles have become, said Ed Kim, director of analysis for industry researcher AutoPacific Inc. in Tustin, California."

Non-story

Non-Story? So why are they recalling the vehicles? You want it to be a non-story but that isn't reality.

a fuel leak is not complex at all,

More de-boosting and no valid counterpoints? I'm starting to think that the Toyota fans here are teenagers. They sure act like they are.

when you have 45 leaks out of 250,000 cars it would be normaly done as a service campaign. When you tell congress your going to act quicker that's what you do.
