Ford seeks to match fuel efficiency levels of Volkswagen’s BlueMotion

Ford is seeking to match the fuel efficiency levels attained by Volkswagen's BlueMotion by setting up a new plan that would extend the mileage offered by its range. Global Product chief Derek Kuzak told Autocar that Ford will be working on making its upcoming vehicles as fuel efficient as possible. In fact, all of the models in Ford’s future product plans will enter a weight reduction program and get special aerodynamic testings. Both are expected to considerably boost the vehicles’ overall fuel efficiency figures.

Competition is a good thing, and longer gearing in the real world, a questionable thing, especially if you live on the coast with MTNS, great for a flat prairies, but may also cost efficiency for the coastal people.
