VIDEO: Cops Get Their Hands On The NEW Chevy Caprice Patrol Vehicle, YOU Should Be Worried
And from the looks of things, there's good reason for that anxiety. That's because this Holden-built Caprice is essentially a resurrected Pontiac G8. To say that the G8 should not be taken lightly is probably the understatement of the year.

With the police car wars heating up, it looks like anyone who's speeding is going to have a tough life ahead of them.

The Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle will be made by GM Holden in Australia.

Based on the Holden Caprice, it was recently evaluated by US police departments at the Firebird International Raceway in Phoenix, Arizona.

Holden took some cameras behind the scenes and captured this vision of the police officers putting the Caprice through its paces...

I thought the whole reason Carbon Motors purpose built police entry was voted out because they couldn't be used for undercover duty since they are only sold to Police departments. Doesn't this Caprice succumb to essentially the same thing since the public cannot buy one, only the cops?

'Can't wait for these monsters to show up in the cop-car auctions a year or two from now. It's a shame this thing can't be on the US market.

Once these cars are on the beat, televised high speed chases should get a bit more interesting. Think of it as a US version of the V8 super car series where with any luck there will only be one loser.

I have heard from many people that you don't want to speed in the USA because they will slap you with a ticket going just a few mph over the limit, that is what I call fundraising! A few years back I was pulled over for doing the speed limit at night, how ironic, lol no ticket though, I was having images of guns drawn, like in the show cops, lol To my surprise he was a easy going good guy, he was checking to see if I was drunk?

Cops in Southern California routinely drive well past the speed limit, roll through stop signs and disobey the very traffic laws they enforce even when they are NOT pursuing someone or on their way to an emergency. Having G8-level performance will only tempt them to speed even more than they already do.

How true, I trained as a federal corrections officer, and they love the young recruits because they can brainwash them, don't dare think for your selves, aside from many being tax collectors they do have an important job when they aren't robbing us in the name of our safety, this car looks nice, but I would think it would be a little small for taking larger suvs off the road, I mean making them crash.

Is this a joke? Just take a corner really fast and that archaic G8 won't even know what hit it. That car is NOT that impressive.

What is the ground clearance on one of these compared to a Crown Vic? It doesn't look particularly high. I would think that might be a problem since cops have to be able to clear a curb now and then.
