VW To Replace 27 Suspect Beetles - NHTSA Upgrades Passat Fire Probe

The government has upgraded an investigation into nearly 500,000 Volkswagen Passat vehicles over concerns that engine fires could start.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a notice posted on its website that it was launching an engineering analysis into 490,064 2001-07 Passat vehicles after receiving 14 complaints alleging that a fire started "in the engine compartment of the vehicle that may be related to ignition coil failure."
