This is quite the opposite of the view of the auto industry's top trade group. The government's proposed fuel standards are absurd. They will force American consumers into small and unsafe cars they have typically never bought. Let the free market determine what type of vehicles we want.

Wrong. Cars can remain large but their engines need to become more efficient. This technology is already available but the average American is to stupid to realize that they don't need 300-horsepower in their daily driver boring vanilla family sedan. I see this all the time.

Oh don't worry. You will get multiple de-boosts and a whole bunch of comments telling you that a 6.75L V8 is the minimum displacement required as they have to tow a Boat and pull a.............

How this is relevant to most of the soccer mums and other city dwellers who i have never seen with a boat eludes me.

But just watch this space.

Willis, why can't we let the CONSUMER decide with their checkbook what type of car and engine they want instead of the government doing it for us? Have some faith in a FREE market.
