Volkswagen Auto Worker Union Demands Doubling Of Raises

German unions rejected an offer from Volkswagen AG that would give workers a pay rise of 2.9 percent over the next two years and a one-time payment of 300 euros before the end of June.

"The difference between demand and offer is much too big. The length of the deal has to be shorter and the proposed pay hike higher, before we can talk about a compromise," IG Metall chief negotiator Hartmut Meine said in a statement on Friday.

Perhaps a tour of Detroit would help. The union workers can see what happens when those demands get out of control. Remember, VW is also in bed with the Chinese, and may not need German workers for very much longer.

Rethink your ideals Detroit's decline solely on the UAW, lackluster GM designs and an artificially valued Yen where major factors as well. Or counterparts at IG Metall and JAW make more money than the UAW and few people even new of their existence.
