Diesels are not more reliable than petrol cars.. there is more to go wrong in a diesel car, Higher compression required, injectors, turbo etc.. things are are required for diesel to work.. is the complexity meaning there is more potential for things to go wrong..

All things a modern petrol engine has too, except the high compression. And for that matter: diesel engines are built a lot tougher to handle the stress of the high compression. No problems there. Although I hate the rattling sound of a cold diesel, diesel engines do prove to be more reliable, more economical and almost as powerful as it's petrol equivalents. There is a good reason there are almost as many diesel cars as petrol cars in Europe. Especially the more high end diesel engines are superb, think about the wonderful Volvo D5 engines, BMW 30d engines, Jaguar 3.0 V6 diesel, etc.
