I love that car, but that brown with the wood interior has to be the most disgusting combo I have ever seen!

I will have one! That has to be one of the most beautiful coupes in the world and it's a real sleeper only a few badges which can be overlooked or beter yet removed! and noone on the street knows until you whoop their a** from stoplight to stoplight

Looks to me like the same bloody car. It has an arse as far as a caboose and would benefit for a 500lb or more reduction in body weight... looks big and bulbous... have driven in a 645i coupe and it handles well but feels like a heavy car. Don't agree with anyone else about it being gorgeous.

Stinky, I guess it has an aerodynamic function. remember the old 911? It reminds me of it. I think some of the pictures overly exagerate the size of the hump. There are quite a few things in this car that cause you to bite your tongue really hard when looking at them. It is a real monster on the outside and a real gem on the inside -- the definition of BMW :)

If money was no object hear, would you take a black 911 or V8 Vantage instead?

You, being one of the most reasonable people on this site, make me think that you acknowledge both cars mentioned as being more beautiful than the 6-Series.

The 6-Series has some sort of weird, uncohesive appearance to it.

In my opinion, the 6-Series classifies as "almost there" just like the 5-Series, Ford Mustang, and 3-Series. All these designs aren't gawd-awful. They just have some great elements mixed with some ideas that were possibly conceived while intoxicated and then finalized without any common-sense approval.

The 5-Series front end reminds me of retro glasses that a librarian named "Edna" wears. Funny thing, I was looking for a picture of a 911 Carrera to post here when I found something that I was going to look for afterwards.



I don't think that it is a coincidence that somebody somewhere else on the planet thinks the same thing about the new 5-Series headlights. It is really hard to take them seriously when they look like this.




Gone are the days when the 5-Series looked like a man's car...

All cars that you mentioned are absolutely gorgeous cars. In my opinion, the V8 Vantage is one of the most elegant and sexy coupes out there. Of course, the model of 6-Series that compares to the V8 Vantage is the M6 and still, I would take the V8 Vantage, although in the real world, I would buy a 911 because of its reliability in relation to Aston Martin's.

Don't get me wrong, I really like BMW, and, if I was in the market for a little roadster for about 50-60k Canadian, I would take the Z4 hands-down.

I do not get why there needs to be so many "surprising" styling cues on the 5-Series for it to be a looker, though. Why can't it have sporty, yet elegant, luxurious, and high-class looks like the E-Class both inside and out? On a scale of 1-10, I would give the E-Class interior a 10; I would give the 5-Series a 4. It looks so damn weird! It looks pretty darn good when you are looking at the dash, but when you take your attention to the doors, it is ruined; there is no turning back. The dash and door-panels are not cohesive at all!



It looks like a joke!

An example of a great, cohesive design that was done by Bangle was the Z4. The car is gorgeous both inside and out, in my opinion.

Actually, i've never seen a BMW as an interior class-leader. Even pre-Bangle, their designs, while driver foccused, were a bit lacklustre.

I actually don't mind the door trim on the five series, it is a bit abstract and a bit funky. Shame about the horrific use of wood for the grab-handle, however.

And agreed, the Z4 cockpit is definately a looker. As to is the coupe...

I think the M6 is what the American manufacturers should be making as a successor to the muscle cars of the 70's.

Brutal in appearance, real character, and a stonking engine.

Imagine if the M6 had a pushrod V8, leaf-springs and a floor made of balsa wood. No one would take it seriously.

It just rubs me the wrong way!.... It is like witnessing a car accident right in front of my eyes. It is like a crime against everything that I find as elegant. It is not revolutionary. It is murder to the senses, awkward in appearance.

Now, the Z4: That is an interior!

The American companies like GM just come off as lazy and pig-headed, and will only improve their standards if somebody tells them they have to because they stink. They will not go off on their own to be a leader in design. You know that expression: You gotta hit rock bottom.....
