U.S. Dept. of Energy predicts gasoline to average $3.17 per gallon in 2011
According to the U.S. Department of Energy’s Short-Term Energy Outlook for 2011 and 2012 that was recently released, gasoline prices are expected to average $3.17 per gallon in 2011 and $3.29 in 2012. The increase in prices is partly due to the increase in crude oil prices. The DOE predicts that crude oil will cost roughly $93 per barrel throughout 2011 ($14 higher than in 2010). This price is also expected to increase to $99 per barrel in 2012. The DOE also said that another reason for the price hike is the expected global oil usage

With the entire world using more and more diesel electric and hybrids and conventional cars getting better and better MPG demand is probably very low so why is gas so effin high?

Gas is already above $3.11 around Seattle, and has been for months. I typically pay over $3.20 for regular, and premium is around $3.40-50. Diesel I see from $3.40-3.70. And we have refineries relatively close, just a couple of hours north. It's been far higher than the national average for over a year here.

My next car will likely be a diesel Passat or Fusion Hybrid.

Here is another story on gas prices ,, The last posting was around New Years Day . They said to get ready ( whatever that meant) for gas hitting 4.00/ gal. . Now we get another one posting sparce a price increse . . Anyone with a price drop with a major oil discover in the Rockies which I am sure there is, with oil be taking out of the mountain ridge the extends from Alaska all the way to the tip of South America with except and I say except The United States
