RUMOR: It's BaaAAaack! The NSX Is A Go, Can This Be The Car That Saves Acura?
Although Honda has been able to maintain stable sales figures, there has been a noticeable change in the company's styling. In fact, a lot of people who once respected the brand have turned their backs on it.

All because of a beak? Well, sorta.

But Honda has an answer for that: the NSX. Yes, the N-S-X. It must be due to all of the hubbub over the Lexus LFA, right? I mean, if those guys can do it, surely Honda can. Considering it produced the original NSX, largely thought as a game changer, and the S2000, we're sure that a possible NSX will be a capable performer.

But would this be the injection Honda currently needs?
Is a halo car the answer or should Honda worry about revamping its current line up?

Honda heads, rejoice! In Japan today Honda president Takashi Ito announced that the company will renew development of the NSX. The next generation of Honda’s supercar was put on hold as a result of the Lehman Shock (Japanese for Global Financial Crisis) in 2008...

A Halo car would be good but it's not enough.

Turbo sixes in the TL/TSX/MDX to better compete with the competition would do wonders and still enable them to keep great mileage.

Naturally aspirated is a great thing but if BMW can see the wisdom of forced induction so can Honda/Acura......

Halo car is great, but what HONDA really needs is a G/Z/3 competitor. What's so hard to see?!!!

I remember driving my friends NSX in the rain, it was the fastest car I ever drove, he didn't have to fix it all of the time like he did his Ferrari either, and it was good on fuel, I would like one too, although some very stiff competition, they should just make a truck to compete with the Raptor, there is no other competition in the truck world, the majority of people just don't get trucks yet, I love cars and 4x4 trucks.

! expensive car is not enough profit. It may generate buzz towards the brand, but a high volume quailty vehicle will save a brand. They need different styling. Acura's are just plain ugly. They are trying to overstyle the vehicles. Sometimes, basics are good.

If it is Honda, ugly vehicles still might sell well.
Look at Pilots....

A brand new NSX + a vehicle face lift on the model line could work! It would signal to the Honda faithful that Honda is back on track.

I think they should start at the other end of the scale. $50k sports car, and an entry level car beneath the TSX. Get back to what they were originally. Oh yeah, and bring back the Legend.

tsx replaced the rsx, tl replaced the vigor, rl replaced legend and became a geriatric vehicle

The heads at these jap companies are freaking idiots. First toyota skips all the holes in its lineup, and jumps headfirst into super-mega-expensive exotic territory, with a car that costs 3.5 times what it's worth....

Then nissan is too scared and cant make up its mind if its going to build what it needs to be taken seriously as at least a contender, rather than 3rd tier where they'd firmly lodged--a full-sized flagship sedan.

And now honda does the same as toyota; let's forget a small coupe, forget RWD, forget a modern transmission and engine technology, and build another way-too-expensive, underperforming so-called 'exotic.'

I loved the original NSX and would love to see them do something similar. It shouldn't be an uber expensive car, but something affordable enough to put on the street and drive. They need a high performance car that be had in the $70 - 80K range. Even that cannot guarantee a success. Just look at January 2011 sales numbers where Porsche sold 435 911's compared to Nissan's 22 GT-Rs. The GT-R costs less than most version's of the 911, outperforms the 911, yet can't even come close in sales. Why? Honda should dissect the why and use this to really build the 911 killer, not just in terms of all out performance, but in terms of sales.

an uber expensive car is not going to save the brand, after all, they will not likely sell many or turn a profit for quite a while, they need cars that look and drive great and are offering modern motors and transmission options to sell to the masses
