Super Bowl Upset Today? Spies Give Chrysler 200 Eminem Ad Best Of Show

Super Bowl Upset Today? Spies Give Chrysler 200 Eminem Ad Best Of Show
For those waiting today for the Super Bowl of ad competitions, for the most part it was quite a creative disappointment.

Last year Hyundai rocked the show and the world with their Super Bowl splash but this yet, eh, not so much.

VW won the runner up with their cute Darth Vader ad but we guarantee that ad won't sell one new Passat.

Sometimes the best work comes from the ones who are most desperate in their quest to survive.

And in today's game Chrysler scored the biggest TD in our opinion with their raw and edgy take on Detroit starring the city and people of Detroit and rapper Eminem.

If you missed it here it is

We think it fits perfectly with the trend we predicted over a year and half ago when we said that pretty and elegant are out and brutal and raw is in when it comes to sport and luxury cars and trucks.

The ad also showed an underlying anger towards their competiotion and how they will play the game going forward.

Almost a subliminal we're not sit back and play fair, we're gonna smash you in the face attitude.

And we say it's EXACTLY what the Americans need to do to win again in the car biz.

Chime in and tell us your opinion...

Spies, discuss...

The 300C would have "backed up" the message a little better but a great ad nevertheless.

I was going to say the same thing -- if he was in a 300, maybe...I just don't see the 200 being Eminem's ride...

Well if the editors decide to publish it, you can read the explanation for what I'm about to say:

The ad was based on a bald-faced lie. Chrysler is about as "American" as Hyundai or Honda or Toyota. They're all foreign-owned companies with US manufacturing.

No matter how many times you say it to convince YOURSELF that this statement is true we all know better than that.

The US manufacturing is all that matters!! It was a good coming out shot for a good looking car..Looks better than the others in that category!

I hate chrysler, i hate the 300c, i hate this new 200, f the whole line up.

I dont like the new charger, the challenger and the ram pickups are the only thing i can stand from chrysler in production today.

I wish the recession would have killed them

You are NOT serious. You must personally have something against Chrysler to feel this way. (this reply is to the first comment)

I think it was a great commercial, by far the best of the entire game. I wish they had used the 300 instead of the 200, but other than that it was awesome.

It was very amusing, especially the line "Imported from Detroit". They were probably debating whether to use that or "From Squalor Comes Greatness"

I liked the ad and I liked the 200. As for those crying about the 300. The 300 is NOT Chryslers bread and butter mobile. The new 200 is the biggest changer in the lineup compared to the 300.

I personally loved the Dodge commercial with the snowpacolypse. Reminds me of my state where when it flurries the stores are mobbed with bread, milk, egg buyers. The gas station lines are ridiculously long. The improvement stores run out of generators, shovels, etc.

I'm convinced that people either don't shop properly or keep themselves ahead of the game, or that they throw out their shovels after each storm or each year to make room in the garage.

This was a thought provoking commercial. An awesome job in choosing Eminem, who always tries to put his hometown back on the map. Loved it!!

Best rental car commercial ever LOL. Seriously, it was the best commercial, a little over the top probably, but it sent a very powerful message and you could tell a lot of thought and effort went into it. I wish Chrysler well, the more competition we have the better because they all keep each other in check, so I do not wish for their downfall.

FYI - Just read elsewhere the reason Chrysler chose the 200 over the 300, is because the 300 is built in Ontario and the 200 is actually built in Michigan.

First off, make that YOUR!

And second, edgy ad, but like the Merc ad with Puffy, how much will it really add to the bottom line???? And you are wrong on VW's Passat!!

Unfortunatley for VW the new Passat is just ugly! Great commercial though that may generate foot traffic that I anticpate will leave the showroom when they take a good look at the car.

If a rapper can design cars, then by all means he should be snapped up...in the case of some car makers.....QUICKLY!!!

It was a great commercial that was wasted on the Chrysler 200! It you're going to go through all of that trouble & money to get MM, why not put him in the new Chrysler 300 or new Dodge Durango.
