Infiniti’s baby model with Mercedes-Benz engine coming to Geneva
Sources in Japan said that the upcoming baby model from Infiniti will be powered by a turbocharged Mercedes-Benz four-cylinder motor. Set to debut at the Geneva auto show, the new car is said to be a small, premium, coupé-like three-door hatchback. It has a concept similar to the Mercedes CLC but its styling cues are from the earlier Essence concept. According to sources, the production model is expected to be based on a new Renault-Nissan small platform that will support the next Mégane as well.

I own two Mercedes' cars ('08 S550 and '10 C350) and their engines are completely fine. Powerful, responsive, smooth and reliable.

I have owned Mercedes' cars in the past and I've never had a problem with their motors.

Should we put a Lexus engine in so the car can accelerate itself?

Keep the Infiniti design. Don't mess up a good car by dumping a Mercedes engine!

If my Lexus came with any motor other than the LF-A engine, I'd drive it off a bridge...

I rented a C180 or C200 Kompressor in France a few months ago, can't remember which model exactly. It definitely had less than the 201-horsepower this new engine here makes, but it drove spirited and was very agile, even with an automatic transmission. In terms of refinement it felt like a 6-cylinder. Smooth, no vibrations and engine noises were low. I didn't get to drive it past 130 kph since that's the speed limit on the French highways, but even at that speed the engine was very refined and quiet - and still agile. I was very impressed. I think such a motor, once Americans test it, would work well here in the US.

I have a C230 V6 here in the US and it's pretty safe to say those C180/C200 Kompressors aren't far behind in terms of performance. They're a far cry from the last 4-cylinders Mercedes' sold here.

And what MB engines are you talking about?

The 4-cylinders they sold here previously weren't that great. But their new generation of 4-cylinders in Europe, which I have experienced, unlike you, are amazing.

Since when are Mercedes' engine considered "unreliable"? Semperlexus is just another typical Lexus fanboy who believes everything their marketing tells him about these overhyped and overrated expensive Toyotas.

My "religion"...yikes. Please quote some more from the Bible, we all know that it is the basis for every sound, rational, and logical argument. Thump away!

Turbospyder, you need to read some more books and stop looking for articles that only support what you believe. FYI, I do believe in God, just not the way that YOU believe/define it. Another FYI, there is also strong evidence to suggest that the building blocks of life arrived from asteroids, look it up.

Apparently you haven't read enough yet or you would not be saying that. You're a math guy, that works on logic, but it seems to have eluded you on this.

Never said I was a non-believer, just don't believe in what you do. If you were a true follower of Jesus Christ then you would not hate so much.

I told you, I do believe in God. I just don't believe in what you do or how you view the world. You don't have a monopoly on how the world is supposed to run.

The difference between me and you is that you live in fear. I don't and am a happier person for doing so.

Oh please. It's Top Gear. They're not exactly known for effective and truthful reporting. Top Gear is an entertainment show first and foremost. They're not about realism. You can bet your Toyota fanboy ass that some modifications were performed on this car prior to or after the submerged in water scene. Water in diesel fuel and in diesel engines is a killer: FACT.

Well made?

You made so well made a RX330 accelerated itself and killed people

So well mad that the LS was recalled becasue the steering wheel would not go back to center

How about the HS250 it was so well made that it recalled for a leaking gas tank

Or about the ES that recalled this year as well.

Such excellent build quality

And last but not least:
