CHICAGO AUTO SHOW: Is The Audi A7 Starting To GROW On You?

CHICAGO AUTO SHOW: Is The Audi A7 Starting To GROW On You?
When I first saw the all-new Audi A7, I was repulsed. Like many recent polarizing vehicles, my first impressions were not good. After getting a look at the vehicle in the press kit's initial studio photographs, I was less than impressed; however, after seeing the car in person and equipped with various options, I began to grasp the styling of the A7.

This wasn't the first time this happened either. With the BMW X6 and Porsche Panamera, I found both to be reasonably heinous but after spending more time driving both vehicles, I came to adore them.

I began to turn around with the A7 after I saw the silver/red Audi Exclusive interior that appears to have made its way to the 2011 Chicago Auto Show. When I compare the A7 to what I believe is the company's best product out now, the B8 S4, it even appears to be a logical evolution of styling compared to the S4's conservative lines.

What do you think? Is the A7 starting to GROW on you? What do you like and dislike AND mention if you have or have NOT seen the car in the flesh!

With all the pictures you took...couldn't you take one of the front end.?

Saw it at the L.A. show and it is better looking in person than in pics.

But that's not the point.

The point is that pre-launch illustrations and/or hype of both the A7 and A8 had us thinking they would be HOT.

What we got did not match this and my suspicion is that Audi's biz decision was to cater to the Chinese market rather than style the models with more of a bold Teutonic flair.

Pity.

I have not seen the car in the flesh but every review I've read so far has liked the styling and presence of the car. And regarding the comment that Audi is catering to the chinese market with their designs, I would say the opposite. Audi has the most teutonic looking designs of the big German brands.

The A7 is growing on me, unlike the A8, A6, A5, A4, A3 , A1, Q7, Q5, S4, S5, RS5 and the RS4.

I actually liked this design from the start. Each time I see it, I like it better and better.

The rear quarter behind the doors look disproportionately long from the photos. A terrible photo job, please step back farther otherwise the rear looks way too big.

I also don't like the swept back rear window. It looks kind of like a elongated Scion Tc.

I actually like the look of this car (now, and only with the spoiler up).

Beautiful car. It is the most radical design from Audi in a long time. I like its shape better than any BMW. It will compete nicely with the Mercedes CLS.
