CHICAGO AUTO SHOW: Are Mercedes-Benz's Optional Rims AWESOME or AWFUL?
If there is one trend that's beginning to make an appearance on the auto show circuit, it is Mercedes-Benz's recent infatuation with its optional wheels. Now although many manufacturers have a set of optional accessories, these set of wheels are on the risque side.
That's because they two-tone black and silver and can be found on the E-Class Coupe, E-Class Wagon and E-Class Convertible.
With that said,
is Mercedes trying to give its vehicles a more youthful look or is it just getting in line with what customers want these days?

I admire and respect MB a great deal but this is an abomination. It is out of character and looks awful.

not feelin it.
009 thinks MB should have rims similar to the Elantra if they want to really impress people.

i like the double spoke ones at the top. the other 'lightening' design is crass to say the least.

Mercedes designs in general are becoming very overwrought and have lost their German character. Good design should look effortless not heavy handed.

You need to do your homework on Mercedes design...the current E-Class clearly takes design cues from the old W124 E-Class and the W-126 S-Class, the design very much fits in with the history of the company.

I actually think they look AWESOME! Im so used to seeing the same old boring MB rims...Rememeber its all about individuality. Some people love it while others will hate it.But WHY the E-class? I think it should only be for the E-class Coupe and Cabrio. They should have also put them on the new SLK or CLS.

Looks very aftermarket. Don't get me wrong, lots of fabulous aftermarket rims out there but these are awful.

I've seen the second wheel design on the road and it looked very good and I agree it looks terrible in this photo...The photo really doesn't do it justice, the contrasts colors don't pop right in photos.

MB's, these days, are driven by doucher's with more money than taste. Enjoy your wheels!
