Volkswagen says its strategy to lower prices is working
Sales of Volkswagen AG’s bigger, cheaper Jetta sedan rose in the fourth quarter of 2010, which the carmaker says is proof that the company's strategy to lower prices is effective. With a starting price of $15,995, the revamped Jetta is about $1,700 less than the previous version even as it is longer by about 3.5 inches. Jonathan Browning, VW's U.S. chief, said that U.S. sales climbed 40% in the fourth quarter of last year compared with the previous year.

Comparable...only because VW finally figured that compact/economy cars in the US need to offer value, which EVERYONE already knew. I guess the Japanese figured this out long before VW. Anyhow...comparable only for the first few years...until the VW begins to fall apart, then it's not even close.

Why the hell did they Americanize this car? It is now fat, bloated, understyled, softened performance and underpowered. I liked VW's as an alternative to camry's and such because of the performance tight, precise steering, solid build quality and handling that the Domestic and Japanese competition couldn't touch with a 10 ft pole. WTF VW!
