2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Debut

2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Coupe Debut
Earlier this week eMercedesBenz brought you the first official photos of the 2012 Mercedes C-Class Coupe, but they were fairly limited in scope. Today, we’ve got an even more revealing look at the model, with the new C-Class Coupe revealed from a variety of different angles.

As already noted, the 2012 C-Class Coupe is built on the standard C-Class platform, with the exception of a roof line that’s lowered from its sedan counterpart. Under the hood, the international market will receive two 1.8-liter four-cylinder turbo power plants outputting 115 kW / 156 hp in the C180 and 150 kW / 204 hp in the C250 along with a new 225 kW / 306 hp C350. From the diesel lineup, look for the 2.1-liter turbo diesel to arrive in both the C220 CDI (125 kW / 170 hp) and the C250 CDI (150 kW / 204 hp). Start-stop technology will be standard equipment, and the seven-speed automatic transmission with 7G-Tronic Plus will be included in the C250 and C350 models.

I think I figured out why I don't like it. The whole car slants forward, as if it had both front tires flat--and then the hood sticks up almost as an afterthought...whoops we still need to stuff the engine in here, guys.

I much prefer the look of the BMW 3 series coupe, because of its sleek belt line that has a very straight flow whereas on this Mercedes the belt line starts out low and rises which doesn't give it as much of a performance look but more like an old drag racing car!

So what you're saying is that 'drag racers' aren't 'sports cars'... Really?

i think i've found my next car! C350 coupe, nice little upgrade from the is350 if you ask me. the car looks very very sharp, can't wait to test drive it.

The IS350 will mop the floor with any C350. It woudn't be an upgrade at all. Especially not in performance, it would be a serious downgrade. C350s perform about at Toyota Solata levels. What does that new C350 coupe offer over the IS350, to consider it to be an upgrade over the IS350?

C350 = weak sauce.

Meant to say "Solara".

I'm not sure what it is, but the transition of the bodywork from hood to the A-Pillar is just not smooth in my opinion. I'm sure a car like this is easy to grow onto people if they don't like it because the design is also very common...

I'm sure I'll get deboosted for saying it but I'd like anyone who reads this to try an experiment. Look at the photo of the C-class coupe above, but cover the front bumper of the car so you can't see the Benz grill, lights, etc. Now go find a side-view photo of a late model Honda Accord coupe, and do the same thing. Please tell me what you see, because I see the same car.

Good, apparently I'm not the only one who sees the Accord Coupe.

As usual, I'm confused.
Mercedes just replaced the CLK model based on the old C Class platform, with great fanfare, and called it the all new E Class coupe and cabriolet, but based on the new C Class platform.

So, to me this was really a C/CLK badged an E Class for more money.
Now we have a new C CLass coupe, built on the same platform as the E Class coupe.Incestuos!

That car doesn't look like a "Premium" car at all.

Looks like a mashup of any Infiniti sedan and Accord coupe. Still, it's pretty sharp inside and out. Could be more original, though.
