I use to love following Leno's car exploits but no more...his gluttony
repulses me now. His excessive indulgence sucks all the air and enthusiasm for cars out of a room. A kid who saves every nickle he can find for five years to buy a beatup old '56 Chevy that he loves and polishes ten times more than Leno does on any one of his zillion cars is more admirable and more of an authentic enthusiast than Leno will ever be !!!

edeus123, you're sounding eerily like '00R :-( Your question sounds an awful lot like the stuff you hear being excreted from the mouths of Harley riders, in which other brands are not "real" bikes, and their riders not "real bikers." Bleh!

Jay does what he wants. Not's lets all be jealous 'cuz he has more money than we do :-)

If I had an Edit button, I'd change "Not's lets all..." to "Now lets all..."

Let me get off my high horse for a sec, hummmmm no, I think I'll stay on. But no, I think the article is really posing the sincerity of someone actually liking cars as oppose to someone having an infatuation with the status of having them or even the ideal of liking them. If I like cars I'm real man arghhh. You know things of that nature. I just thought it was an interesting take on the issue that all.

Let us not punish him for his success. You don't need to be broke to be a car guy! But he does get less respect in my eyes because he does have a "mechanic." Or is that for something else??!! (I'M SCARED)

Leno isn't a car guy, but Kenny G is?

I'm starting to see the humor in your sarcastic remarks.

He has an extensive car collection and chooses the ones he loves. In my book, he's a car guy...

And having a mechanic doesn't make him any less of a car guy, just a rich car guy!

Leno is a car guy. Period. Don't like his comedy that much, but the guy has 10W30 in his veins.

This article has no substance. It basically said the questions been asked, it gave the author's opinion of what a true car person is, and didn't say anything about leno, it actually skirted clear around the issue of stating anything about leno that might have been able to been proven wrong.

I applaud leno, I believe he is a car enthusiast. He doesn't just collect sports cars, he collects all kinds of cars that tell the story of motoring. The fact I find most amazing is that he never spent a penny from the leno show on his car collection. That collection was paid for by his previous exploits and having well balanced budgets.

What do you mean the article has no substance? Do you have to be so critical of everyone's "article"? There is no article in this article. Just a topic for discussion.

Yes, Leno is the ultimate car guy. He can afford any car he likes and it doesn't have to be a collectible or a car with "value". And yes, he has a mechanic because he cannot maintain all those cars by himself.

What I initially thought the intent of the article was to use Jay Leno as a type of catalyst to push the issue of judging rather a person is a sincere car person. I perceive that sometimes people can hide behind a type of facade to feel that inclusiveness that comes with the territory, i.e. I'm a so call car guy because at this time it is a it thing to do.

However, I do see your point, but I actually don't think that was the writer's intention to begin with. He does however mention and states that he believes that Jay Leno is a car guy for whatever reasons.

Ahem, a "mechanic" is also a hitman for the mob. Leno is Italian. It was just a play on words!
