Porsche's Panamera To Get EXTENDED

Porsche's Panamera To Get EXTENDED
One of Porsche's most successful models is the four-door Panamera. There's no disputing that but now the company's research department is saying that there is demand for a long-wheelbase Panny. That would make sense since its pricing would place it in the large executive sedan category, which are commonly used as limos and chauffeuring high-end clients.

With that said, there is a possibility we will see the Panamera grow by five inches so back seat riders can cross their legs. As a 6'8 rear passenger in the standard Panamera, I was able to fit behind a six-foot plus journalist driving the vehicle.

Taking all of this into consideration, my only concern is if and how much it will affect the Panamera's strongest attributes: handling and weight.

Porsche is developing a long-wheelbase version of the Panamera in a bid to satisfy demand for greater rear-seat legroom from customers in North American and China.

Details remain sketchy, but insiders at the company's research and development center in Germany have indicated to AutoWeek that the 115-inch wheelbase of today's Panamera will be extended by almost five inches, taking it up to nearly 120 inches...

I think a LWB varient will make it look even worse....Porsche needs to make a SWB varient of the current model.

I love LWB variants of many models, but I agree... this probably won't be pretty unless they can use this technique to lower the hunchback in the back.

Ugly is as ugly does, Mrs. Blue.

Not with the Cayenne, not with the Panamera, and not with the Cajun... With an extended Panamera in the works, NOW I would say they are diluting the Porsche brand.

Might as well offer a bigger ute than the Cayenne with a third row...

Why not make it wider instead since everyone's getting fat?

Personally I think they should shorten the wheelbase, and make a new version of the 928 Porsche.

Just extend the Rear End by giving it a Trunk
