Has the New York Times lost all its credibility by leaning far left and dumbing down stories like GM's rebuttal commentary?

I’ve spent much of the past week trying to get a letter to the editor published in The New York Times in response to the recent Tom Friedman rant (subscription required) against GM (see “Hyperbole and Defamation at The New York Times,” June 1).

I failed. This is my story.

For those of you who haven’t read it already, Mr. Friedman spent 800 words on the Times op/ed page to accuse GM of supporting terrorists, buying votes in Congress and being a corporate “crack dealer” that posed a serious threat to America’s future. He suggested the nation would be better off if Japan’s Toyota took over GM.

The NYT has been a left wing rag for years now. You think Friedman's column is bad, go see what the "classy" NYT's publisher said at a recent college grad ceremony. So, I'm not surprised by the NYT's column or their lack of printing a real response by GM...without their edit.

is a complete nut! But then again, so is much of the extreme left (and extreme right for that matter)

Let's get the context straight, first off. This article suggests Autospies has been spending a week trying to get a letter published to the NYT. The truth--concealed behind a link--is that a GM communications exec authored the paragraphs you see above.

Try not to take credit for other folks' NYT-bashing; a simple "Quoted from <source>" will lend Autospies some journalistic credibility.

I would never buy a NYT paper if it was the only source of information available. Too biased and filled with ego maniacal media Jagg-Offs.

Freidman is a conservative opinion writer and the NYT's objective is to report the facts. It's too bad that most conservative fans have a problem with factual reporting so therefore smear any news outlet that doesn't support their narrow views or echo-chamber desires.<br><br><br>

This site does a great job breaking car news. It should stick to its core competency.<br><br><br>
