Is Audi's 2012 A6 Going To Become The Most Technology Packed Vehicle On The Market?

Is Audi's 2012 A6 Going To Become The Most Technology Packed Vehicle On The Market?
If you think that Audi’s new 2012 A6 is just another rewrap of the same old thing, then you really aren’t paying attention.

While there are similarities on the surface to the last generation it is under the skin that hold the most surprises. The new A6 will showcase some of the most advanced electronic system on the market today. If you scan across the bewildering array of new feature you might say many of the technologies do exist in one form or another across the market.  But rarely will you find more than one of them in the same brand much less the same model.

Let me give you a few examples:

Arguably the active cruise control in the new A6 is the most advanced stop and go system on the market. The system boasts two radar sensors compared to everyone else’s one.  Think of this as driving with BOTH eyes wide open vs just one.  You see a whole lot more, and can make better choices quicker, in a nutshell the better the input the better the system reacts.  Another benefit of this advanced system in conjunction with the active lane departure system is to preload the vehicle safety systems in the event of a crash to greatly reduce the chance of personal injury.

The above mentioned active lane departure assist feature on the new A6 actually uses a camera to show you where the lane is in the road in less than optimum conditions. This feature makes it far easier to stay on the road in bad conditions.

The night vision assist not only gives you the advantage better sight at night, it also has built in pedestrian detection to boot. I can’t tell you how useful that is when you live in an area with a lot of predawn joggers like I do.  All it takes is for this system to kick in just once and then you realize the brilliance of having it.

Who would had thought that handwriting technology would be incorporated in to a car?   Well in the new A6 does just that by allowing  the user to scribble his destination then use the touchscreen to complete the instructions. To me this is a far better approach than hunting and pecking for the letters on a keyboard.

Again you might be able to find some of these technologies out there in some form or another but you would be simply hard pressed to find more than a couple in one vehicle.  Take that in to consideration and take into account the thoroughness of implementation in the new A6 and I think you will agree that bar has been raised yet again.

This is 2011 not the 80's and 90's.

Having owned all three German brands over the past two decades and looking at all the reliability data out there (as questionable as it may be), I have no evidence that Audi electronics are any less reliable than BMW or Mercedes electronics.

There is a few bad apples out there but about any 2005 or newer Audi is reliable. The 1st year of the 2004 A8 could have been better but a 2007 was very reliable.

I wish they could make snow blizzard assist...can't tell you how many times it was hard to know whether you are driving on the road in a severe snow blizzard!

The E-class and 5 series have had all of these systems for a while now.. except for the doodle pad. Plus BMW's new I-drive is superior to MMI. It would be a big stretch to say the A6 raised any bar.

Best comment if you're trying to pass yourself as a comedian.

so far the new A8 has been great. I have not had a customer come in with any problems/ This car is exactly the same tech as the A8

Dear Audi,

Impressive yes; however it'd be nice to convince your leases to actually buy the car without fear of after the 1st year it goes to Hell. Second those LED light arrangements make the car's front look poofy and saggy.

XoXo,

I thought packing all sorts of tech into a car was BMW's shtick.

Great!!

"Is Audi's 2012 A6 Going To Become The Most Technology Packed Vehicle On The Market?"

Let's pose a more valid and relevant question...

"Is autospies being paid to market the new A6?"

I think we all know the answer...

And I am willing to bet that most of these Audi haters have never owned a recent model Audi.

Then again, the headline of this thread is begging for Audi haters to step forward and vehemently proclaim that the A6 certainly cannot be better than their preferred vehicle.

It certainly comes packed with tecnology, but it is more or less the same case with BMW 5 or Mercedes E and Jaguar xj, so,I think there's nothing to write home about it...

semper, just give it up, youre only embarrassing yourself and sounding butt hurt, because your precious toyota is a whole generation behind. Even as much as I dont like audi I can admit this and the a8 are at the forefront of modern day tech, whereas toyota lags 4 years behind most everyone else.
