New Yorkers Weigh In, Would You Have Guessed THEY Want THIS Taxi?

New Yorkers Weigh In, Would You Have Guessed THEY Want THIS Taxi?
I can't say I saw this one coming. Although there are some serious heavyweights competing for the crown to be New York's most iconic and yellow-hued vehicle, a Turkish automaker -- Karsan -- was chosen as the victor by its residents. And it won with two-thirds of the vote from participants in the Taxi and Limousine Commission's survey.

Given that it doesn't appear to be a great looking vehicle, does that particularly matter anyway? It's a taxi.

The good news is that the Karsan V1 sounds like it is pretty functional with some unique features, which includes wheelchair accessibility on BOTH sides of the vehicle.

I guess New Yorkers are tired of those clunky and annoying Crown Vics, which are the furthest thing from a functional car, that populate the majority of the yellow cab fleet.

New Yorkers picked Turkish car manufacturer Karsan's V1 as the “Taxi of Tomorrow.”

In a survey by the Taxi and Limousine Commission, the design beat out ones submitted by Ford and Nissan.

The survey found 66 percent of respondents either liked or loved the look of the Karsan model...

I remember voting for the Karsan when it was down to it, the Ford, and the Nissan. The Ford and the Nissan looked like existing models; nothing "tomorrow" about them. This looks futuristic, roomy, and panoramic--never mind that you wouldn't choose it for your garage.

Ugh! That looks like something from a futuristic 80's movie that tried to imagine what our cars would look like now...
