I think the last thing Porsche needs is more '' Volkswagens ''

What they do need is a 3 series competitor. This could be achieved by shortening the wheelbase of the Panamera and adding Porsche's new V6 as the upmarket engine and a turbo 4 as the base engine.Adding a coupe to the Panamera portfolio would work provided it would be a true 4 seater so not to step on the 911.They are going to due a version of the mid engined bluesport. One other thing they could do is a FWD version of the A3. They would have most of the niches covered and could certainly get up to that 200,000 per yr limit.

Read the history, there is no surprise about the two's partnership. Porsche's are good cars, very well built cars. If don't like their cars solely because of their looks then that is subjective, but you can't say they're cheap and you can't say their performance models are amongst the best. The 911 and higher models is the only range I would buy. I'm a proud owner of a Turbo, but I don't agree with the rest of the lineup. Not my flavor.

Does Porsche want to dilute the brand by having more on the road?

Really?

I don't think it's all that wise. Brand dilution has hurt marques like BMW and Merc- what once was a not all that common of a thing (Merc's and Bimmers) is now something you see every time you blink here in SoCal.

If Porsche does expand their lineup they need to stay from making cars that are not all that special or unique.

Brand dilution only affects the car enthusiasts. From a business perspective it is the right and smart thing to do.The bottom line is are you selling enough cars and are you making a profit.Or the other solution is charge 200 grand plus and only cater to enthusiasts or those that are incredibly rich.Enthusiasts are a very small portion of the population. No car maker can survive on the enthusiasts unless they charged what I've mentioned above.
