In this part of the world, tariffs are the norm; when I was living in Jakarta in the 80's, we had a company car that was a Toyota Crown that cost $80,000! A similar Toyota in the U.S. would have been no more than $18,000.

I believe ALL the cars there have this huge price due to tariffs. A Ford Taurus is probably $220,000.

Rob u blind, that should be the correct term for most Asia countries on German imports. In China, 150% import tax on these cars and people are still buying given the fact the roads are even more crowded and residential parking space costs more and more each day. The mindset are different in Asia, it is what it should cost to most people. We are just fortunate living in this great country, US of A!
