GM Expresses Displeasure With Volt's Unremarkable Green Car Ranking
General Motors isn’t at all that happy with the latest 2011 ratings from the Green Car Book, which judges the new models on a point scale that includes not only fuel economy and tailpipe emissions, but also such relatively arcane measures as factory pollution and ease of recycling.
The Volt was far below the Nissan Leaf (second place), the Smart fortwo (third place) and even such conventional gas burners as the Mini Cooper (10th place) and the Hyundai Elantra (ninth).

This car does not look good in person. I saw it at the DC Auto show and was shocked that what appears to be part of the window, in every picture GM shows, is actually a seperate part of the door that is painted black. It looks ugly with the windows rolled down.
Apparently the nice dark tint they use in the shoots camouflages the ugly sides of this car.

The best part is how much time and little effort they put into this car.

But the fact is the gas engine is used very little. So in real world driving situations one would have to assume that you could travel quite far between fillups or plugging in.With the Leaf you've got 70 to 80 miles before you have to recharge. You don't have that same issue with the Volt.Further you cannot take a Leaf out of city use whwere you can travel cross country in a Volt.
