GENEVA MOTOR SHOW PREVIEW: A Two-Door Maybach For Those With Large Checking Accounts

GENEVA MOTOR SHOW PREVIEW: A Two-Door Maybach For Those With Large Checking Accounts
For those of us that are overindulgent, this may be the car that fits your style. Perhaps you considered the four-door Maybach just a bit too sedate. Well, maybe Xenatec's coupe version will be a bit more your speed.

Xenatec's designer, Fredrik Burchhardt, is the man who is behind this vehicle. And looking at what's inside, it's just an ode to excess:

- A V12 capable of 605 horsepower
- Zero to 60 in 5.0 seconds
- One-off several layered matte paint
- Buffalo hide, Nappa leather and Alcantara

There's also one little detail. It costs 715,000 Euros.

The 81st International Auto Salon in Geneva is host to first public appearance of the Xenatec Coupe based on the Maybach 57 S. The customer-specified presentation of the car, which will take place in a specially constructed pavilion in the gardens of “La Réserve” Hotel on the banks of Lake Geneva, also marks its world premiere.

The coupe was configured by Xenatec designer Fredrik Burchhardt to customer specifications and then built exclusively for him. The paintwork on this one-off is a matte finish applied by hand in several layers to create a shimmering brass tone. The overall paint finish is completed by a delicate silver along the vehicle’s flanks...

Much better looking than the sedan, but still nothing too special.

WRONG....! But thanks for trying.

Lexus already started selling Lexus as a separate brand like 2 years or so. This Mayback is Nothing than an Overprice MB model.

Still they are made by TOYOTA !!! RIGHT!!!
Every design aspect that TOYOTA (Lexus) has created was a result of Mercedes Benz!! Period.
Lexus has always wanted to be just like a Benz
Don't get me wrong, lexus also is JUST a TOYOTA overprice...LOL!!

Actually, Toyota started selling "Lexus" in Japan in June 2005. In May of that year they were Toyotas in Japan. They had high expectations of 50,000 sales annually. They barley sell 19,000 cars.

And why must the Toyota "Lexus" be brought up in every article? Yes Maybach is a Benz, which is a real car by a real car compamy, and not bad bones on which to base car on by the way. Can you stick to the point. Nice looking car. The execution of the details is execellent. The headline should be "It is a really nice car, bring lots of money"!

To bad, without MB supporting Maybach it would've went of business, if you know what I mean. Ah...ha...ha...

FYI Lexus was the first automaker to make a 8-speed transmission and mass hybrid vehicles and now everyone is copying them. What is my point? Every automaker copy each others.

@ lexus: lexus was not the first to produce mass hybrids, I remember Honda doing such long before toyota. Besides, toyota didn't even develop the technology, they stole it and was sued for it. The 8-speed trans is nothing to brag about, they were so desperate to leapfrog the Germans in something they rushed to put one out. For the Germans, it was simply natural progression to get to an 8-speed trans, and there has been nothing but rave reviews of the 8-speeds in BMW & Audi whereas it is a gimmick for lexus

Really 715,000 euros and it's zero to 60 in 5.0 seconds?

I've seen two Maybach's in person, I'm just not sure how to feel about this brand. I get the point of it and respect the history, but I'm not sure I'd be willing to spend this much money for something that looks so similar design wise to a Benz. Just wish that it wouldn't be so easy to identify it's Benz roots, not that that is a bad thing, I'd want something more unique.
