1.3 Million Vehicle Recall Of F-150 Only A Fraction Of What NHTSA Asked For
When the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently asked Ford to recall 1.3 million trucks over an airbag problem, Ford answered with a plan of its own. It only recalled a fraction of what the safety agency asked for.

"Ford is playing a risky game," said Gene Grabowski, manager of the crisis and litigation practice at Levick Strategic Communications.

So this month we have recalls from GM, Ford, Chrysler, Saab, Honda, Toyota and Suzuki.

combined that would have given Ford about : 4 million vehicles recalled this month including a few f-150 recalls and Windstar

The events have been preceded by a dashboard warning light that comes on days before telling the driver the airbag needs to be checked. Until then it is not a concern, and the bags have all gone off seconds after being started, not a huge safety concern like a loss of brakes or steering.

Um, yeah, I think it is a big safety concern considering a person could be leaning closer to the airbag while starting the vehicle. That is not a safe thing. Unfortunately, many people ignore the airbag light or just don't have time, or just schedule an appointment and get to it later. Airbags can injure people deploying out of nowhere.
