GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Should LARGE, Luxury Sedans Take Styling Lessons From Citroen?

GENEVA MOTOR SHOW: Should LARGE, Luxury Sedans Take Styling Lessons From Citroen?
Although the Citroen Metropolis made its debut at last year's Shanghai World Fair, I am pretty sure it hasn't received the attention it deserves. In a day and age where buyers have expressed a distaste for conservative looks, you have to wonder if Citroen is onto something.

Not only have we taken note of what commenters say about the Audi A8, BMW 7-series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class being "bland," but you have to also look at sales of cars like the Porsche Panamera. That vehicle, although its design is largely considered polarizing, has sold tremendously well for Porsche. Is it because of the Panamera's expressive, stand-out design? OR is it something else?

Most detractors will say that large, luxury sedans are conservatively styled because that's what buyers want. But, is that entirely true?

With that said, we're a bit curious:

Should large, luxury sedans become a bit more edgy like the Citroen Metropolis?

This is the first picture from the Geneva Show that I did not look at the girl standing beside the car. This car looks like a million bucks. Anyone knows who penned this design?

Citroen is obviously taking styling lessons from Lamborghini. This car is a dead-ringer for the Estoque concept. Come on man

I like it a lot. Front end is Audi, back end is BMW. Wish I could see the interior.

"Front end is Audi, back end is BMW"

I couldn't agree more.

I don't have a problem with this model, the car either!

So, only Audi should take lessons!

One of your best questions ever! Yes...in particular Lincoln who is desperately trying to find its design language. Imagine if they had used some of this creativity rather than the approach of the cluster mess of the MKT. Frankly I don't know how they sold 412 of them in Feb 2011. Congrats to the Metropolis team!

Citroen should make a short wheelbase version and sell it here in the US. This car beautiful!! In side profile only I see a slight resemblance in Saab's 9-5.

The back end of this car looks like the front end. Very nice looking but, which is front and which is back. LOL

Citroen DS, SM, GS, CX. Still the most original, forward looking sedans in the world. Sadly, this discontinued in the 80s and I've yet to see anything from Citroen that says otherwise.

The Citroen C6 is the start of getting some of it's "mojo" back. It has
quite a French avantgard style to it. For example it has a concave rear window. It has an excellent ride. It has an extreemly luxurious interior. It's too bad it is not sold here. The diesel is the most popular model sold in Europe. Citroen should make it into a turbo diesel/hybrid. if sold here it would give Lexus,Hyundai a run for the money. Also on the small car front Citroen has come out with the DS3. It is a charming colorful littel car that competes with the Mini Cooper(In fact they share the same engine). To me the the most interesting Citroens were the DS 19 and 21. They were beautifully ugly. However they had a fantastic ride and a simple but luxurious interior. The French still like to do things a little differently then the rest of the world. True they were starting to get too main stream but there are signs of resurgence. The Renault Fluence Coupe has an interesting design as well.Where they are still weak is their b adn C size cars. They still look a little too non descript as far as styling goes.
