Is The New BMW M5 Going To Become The Hot Ticket For The Consummate Enthusiast?
BMW had told us to wait until Friday for some more information on the upcoming M5 and earlier this morning we got it in the form of another video teaser.
The new M5 is seen undergoing testing somewhere in Europe in the typical cammo we have come to expect. This latest iteration continues to straddle the line between a luxury executive car and a rabid road eating monster all at the flip of a switch.
Equipped with the same twin turbocharged V8 as found in the
X5M and X6M, the M5 may just be able to keep the top spot in the executive class road rocket category secure for quite a while.

I sure hope that its more of a rabid-monster and less of a luxo-cruiser.
The BMW M-Division really needs to get back to making no excuses Ultimate Drving Machines instead of boulevard cruisers for wealthy soccer moms.

If the E92 M3 is anything to go by the next M5 will be remarkable. With an uprated version of the ttV8 that makes the x5m SUV hit 60 in the low 4's, the M5 will be a rocket.
Dont let I-95 see it driving in the snow..

I think the purists are looking more towards the M3. The 5 has grown softer over the years. But good thing that Flame Surface stuff is gone!

the 5 has titled more toward luxury from sport, but the M5 has never done so. it's been ferocious from the start.

i agree. the 3 is the new 5. sadly, the 5 is just too heavy and the platform sharing with the 7 makes it soft. shame about the steering - that used to be one of the key elements of the 5

i have one. yes, it's softer RELATIVE to previous 5-series. but still a far more engaging car than the E or the A6. better looking too.

Hope it's around 3900lbs. and not 4300lbs. like the CTS-V. While that car is powerful, it's also heavy and I don't think it's a 'looker'. I hope that it isn't 100K for this thing either. Kinda defeats the purpose when a 760 can be had for a few K more. If they price it right, it should be a killer. Wonder if they'll base the new M6 off this?

If a 335xi sedan weighs 3800, how do you think they will make an M5 weigh 3900 lbs? You are confusing weight for track cars and real world driving sedans. The 335xi may weigh a lot, but at 150 MPH, it is a dream to drive and is still effortless under control. The M5 will most likely be around 4300-4500 lbs. It will still be a nimble, fast and SOLID vehicle. With weight comes rigidty and a solid vehicle.
If you strip it down, like a crappy subaru, it will rattle, have lots of wind noise, poor quality parts. You must not have ever driven an M5, I have on a track.

it will be $100k...the last one based in the mid $80s. the 760 STARTS at $137k. it's not a 'few k' more.
