New Toyota Global Vision Hinges On Bringing Exciting Cars To Market Faster
Today, Akio Toyoda presented Toyota’s „Global Vision“ to the press in Tokyo. Sure, there are the usual affirmations to “continue to furnish world-class safety,” and to “continue to contribute to environmental quality and to human happiness.” But what are they really up to?

semperLexus,

So the LF-A is a Toyota?

I know what brand the LF-A is. And it seems like you do too :)

But for all intents we're talking about cars that are branded "Toyota". The LF-A isn't branded as a Toyota (even though it really is one as you said already). Kinda like Caddy and GM.

Let me translate nonofyobus's replies.

"The user LexSucks hurt my feelings so bad that all I do now is stalk his posts and call him names."

Well their products couldn't be any LESS exciting if they tried to be. So I guess if we take that perspective...then I believe Toyota is telling the truth.

If the FT86 was leaked in 2009 and will be a 2012-2013 product...what are these "exciting vehicles" we havent heard of that apparently need 4 years from concept to design?

4 years from concept to market is unacceptable. The Germans show it and bring it to market in under 18 months. Typically in under 12. That has become the norm.

Isn't the LFA going on 6 years between first concept to first deliveries?

Just think how long 6 years is in the development curve... Most of the technology innovations you start with have been out of date for at least 2 years by the time it hit the market.

Like the LF-A's transmission?

Like the same transmission that's used in the Gallardo? The single clutch units? Or like the NEW AVENTADOR? SINGLE CLUTH!? Yeah, really out of date there Lexsucks oh oh whine. Give it a rest. At least they take the time to develop a car, unlike other car companies who rush out their product to have them FAIL on you, like your comments. Toyota had sporty, the world wanted SUVS, Toyota made SUVS, now the world wants fuel efficient. Toyota makes fuel efficient. Now Toyota don't make sporty, seems like Toyota is going back to making sporty. If anything they are with the times, unlike your '6 year development'.

The first LFA concept was around 2001 2002. It wasn't on the drawing board until a later date, then switched from Aluminum to Carbon fiber. Such OLD WORLD Tech there huh, oh oh whine? So old in fact that the 458 uses Aluminum, as does the SLS and 911GT2 and Ferrari 599, and Lamborghini Gallardo. Only the new Aventador uses a carbon chassis like the LFA, and it's still heavier by 200lbs. curb weight. The MP4 uses a carbon TUB, not a complete carbon chassis. and it's curb weight is 3150lbs. Not much less than the 3250lbs. for the Lux-fitted LFA. Get the facts straight Lexsucks/oh oh whine!

The Lamborghini uses a single clutch and the automotive press hates it. That single clutch transmission pales in comparison to the dual clutch units. If that's the example that you are using to justify the LF-A's outdated transmission, then it’s a weak justification. The Gallardo's transmission is also second rate. That doesn't make the LF-A's transmission any better. They both are second rate.

And the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 does indeed have a Dual-clutch transmission. Wikipedia doesn’t have that info.

Since you brought up some examples of cars that have a single clutch transmission, I’d like to mention some cars that have a Dual-Clutch transmission (who’s list do you think will be more impressive?) Ferarri 458, 599, and California, Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi R8, Bugatti Veyron, Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, Nissan GT-R, BMW M3, Audi S4. An there's many more.

Justify? I didn't justify anything. They went for 'feel' with their transmission. The LP560-4 does not have a dual clutch. You're wrong again. Wikipedia might be your source for information. I take mine from the automakers own words. LFA is so outdated because you have felt the shifts? Funny! Because on a Lamborghini forum, a Gallardo 560-4 owner said the LFA shifted faster than his car. You fail yet again Starscream. I mentioned those cars because they are competitors to the LFA in terms of performance, yet none of those offerings have a carbon fiber chassis and body. If you want sub par reliability and a recall on a supercar, by all means go purchase a 458.

nonofyobus,

At least we're still talking about cars instead of this childish insult fest that you seem to be on. What does your reply have to do about cars? I must have hurt your feelings bad. Do I need to apologize to you? Let me know because what you are right doing now is making you look like a child that got their feeling hurt.

Awwwwwww… someone hurt nonofyobus’s feelings. LOL!!

freshseth83,

OK the lambo does have a single clutch (I was wrong). Then it's no surprise that the LF-A can shift faster. Both use the same outdated setup. If a Ferrari 458 owner said that the LF-A shifted faster than his 458, then you'd have somewhat of a point.

The LF-A is Toyota.. You know? the same company that stunk up the joint for 8 or so years in F1 racing. Ferrari actually wins races and championships. Keep your Supra... uhh LF-A, I’ll stick with the genuine article.

"It's really is comical that YOU THINK you are discussing automobiles."

- Then what the heck am I discussing if it isn’t cars?

"You are the forum village idiot, and we love to follow your post for a good laugh."

- You follow my posts for a different reason. It’s called resentment. That's why you stalk my posts and insult me personally with your replies. Anyone with a brain can see that. "village idiot"?
At least I don’t call people "Parez Hilton". LOL! You are the person who's turning this into TMZ.

Tell me something? Are you actually discussing cars in your replies to me? I guess mentioning "Parez Hilton" all the time is what you would consider to be Automotive discussion? LOL!!

I'd never guess in a million years that someone would react like how you do about a car disagreement. You have issues dude.
