You two are hilarious. The truck is a major part of the American lifestyle so WTF are you saying? Oh let me guess, BMWs and Camry's should top the list??? Give me a break.

No gas guzzler tax on trucks and SUV because the base models get better MPG then most AMGs. I may be stretching it a bit, but not by far. People in the States love large SUV because they choose to bring the family on trips comfortably and not shoving them all into a econobox....get serious people!

I know it is difficult to differentiate, but how much of these sales are acutally customer purchases vs. fleet sales. I think the reason those truck sales are so high are because the majority of them are from fleet sales. I mean you see all those utilty companies on the side of the road in trucks every state you visit. True a sale is a sale but this list doesn't really seem to be a true measure of what the actual typical consumer is purchasing. These companies need these vehicles to operate. Among that list, excluding fleet sales, I think the Accord would top the list, since you don't even see them in rental fleets.

You are right, unfortunately, I bet that over half of the F-150 sales are to people who just drive them to work or to get some groceries. If they were used like intended, there would be no problems. Also there would be no need for that many trucks in construction. But because people that never use them like they are intended buy them, there should be a gas guzzler tax on them. If a sprots sedan gets milage like 14/18 it has gas guzzler tax, but a truck that gets the same milage doesn't, neither does an SUV. Also, for the 334,725 F-150 were sold, I bet less than 10,000 AMGs with similar milage were sold.

How can people buy those peaces of crap????
I wouldn't say if they needed them, or if they were of any use but ughhhh!!!!

The thing that bothers me the most is that those engines in trucks are 15 times thirstier than for example an engine in a small hatch, and yet the hatch can probably beat that 4.0+ liter truck.

It also bothers me that I have to drive a 2.0 TDI, and pay double the gas price in the US for diesel, and have to leave my 3.0TDI at home because it uses 8 liter for 100km, (instead of 6 for the 2.0 TDI) and I cant lose money like that.

Those bashing the F150 have probably never been in one let alone seen one in person. And yes, in the US we have a lot of small contractors who depend on their pickups to haul around tools and supplies. Not to mention folks with large properties who prefer the utility of puckups and SUVs. I own an Explorer and it is the best 'truck' I've ever owned and I've owned a Pathfinder and a Ram 1500.<br><br>

I wouldn't even think about throwing my 100 lb. Lab in the back seat of a Civic. And my pooch comes with me almost everywhere.<br><br>

Also, the countless times I had to get large items home from the store such as snow thrower, BBQ, lawn mower, power washer, furniture, etc. Delivery costs alone would have far outweighed the price of fuel consumption.<br><br>

Plus I work 5 miles from my home so a tank of petrol last me a long time.

If u need to carry around big pieces of stuff, and u prefer a pick up shape its all good.

What is stupid is that those pick ups have engines with 4+ liters. A 2 liter diesel will do u just fine and you wont lose any performance while ur stuck in traffic!!!

The thing is that the sports cars pay for their consumption with gas guzzler taxes. Trucks and SUV's should also pay the same gas guzzler taxes. As you can see from the numbers there are almost 100 times more gas guzzling (not paying the gas guzzler tax) F-150 than sports cars with the same milage. Also, for every truck that is used properly ther are ten that are used to commute. That is my point.

How is the Camry still beating the Accord?

For those of you who complain that 50%, 80%, or whatever don't use their F-150 pickups need to be educated. Or how about a comparison. Let's see what percentage of idiots who own a Porsche, Corvette, M3, etc. who don't truly use the car to its full potential. I used to work with a guy that owned a Porsche who had no idea the Porsche Club of America did track events all over the country. When I asked him if he ever took it to the track, his reply was "Why would I want to do that?" Because it is a race inspired sportscar you freakin idiot!!!!!! I'd say 50% of these jokers buy these cars for status and not for function.....same as the F-150 owners.

Bottom Line here is whatever you prefer, need, want, afford, you BUY. We can argue this all year and no one will agree on anything. Each person has their own reasons for choosing their ride. Its why we have so many models of cars and trucks and SUVs and station wagons and hatchbacks and sports cars and coupes and convertibles and luxury cars and econo cars, etc. FREEDOM OF CHOICE guys. The F150 has been the best selling vehicle in America for many years now because Americans need a vehicle like it and Ford has capitalised on this and has tailormade the F150 to suit this need. in recent years, pick up truck sales has already decreased significantly. There used to be a time when pick ups sell more than a million units a year. Thats right, 1 MILLION+ UNITS!

People bashing trucks had no good reason or explanation for needing to bash the largest US seller. All you bashers stated is moronic trash. It is hilarious to me that people have a need to disresepct one manufacturer for being on top of a list just because it is not the brand they like.

The US loves utility vehicles that are capable of various duties. Thats why every foreign manufacturer has produced trucks and SUVs to tap into the market. I guess Tundras, MB GL, Honda Ridgeline, Lexus LX, Porshe Cayenne, Audi Q7, etc are all POS trash??? That is retarded....especially OOOdi = moron. Oh not to mention that I have 4 friends with foreign autos (MB,BMW, Toyota, and Audi)that ask me to help them ALL THE TIME WITH MY TRUCK! I have a soft spots for females.

I have a late model F250 Diesel and it is one of the best rides I owned. I can take it anywhere and do whatever I want. I don't consider myself a Redneck since I make 6 figures at 30yo. I will think of you 'Euro is best' bloggers when I pull more MB Ms, Audi Quattros, and Lexus SUVs out of snow everytime I am in the Sierras or in Tahoe. I better not forget my tow straps or they are screwed! =)
