In my 13 year experience with heated seats, never have I been overwhelmed by the sudden and brisk heating so that I was burned before I realized I was too warm. This appears to be a strong case for: Lack of Foresight + Not My Fault = Sue The Bastards (AKA Income for Lawyers).

Common sense dictates that if you have sensory issues in which you might not be able to detect excessive heat, then you should leave the car seat heater off. Unfortunately, common sense appear to be uncommon in this country.

I sure hope this does not turn into an "unintended heating" scandal.

I have owned many cars with heaters in the seats and never once have I burnt myself. The article goes on to say that many of these claims are from people that have Paralysis or lower body sensory problems. Well if that is the case then they would not have felt that there lower body was cold and would not have turned them on in the first place. And the other question is, What percentage of the US car buying population has this type of medical condition. I would guess a very tiny percentage!!! I am not one with the issue so why should I and the rest of us that have normal nerve receptor activity give up to accomodate these few?? If you have a challenge, then it is your responsibility to learn to live with it!!! But obviously the powers that be want all of us to be treated equally when we are not equal at all. I am different than every other human and I do not want to treat or be treated like a wholistic society. Let the ones that want total equality go to their own continent and lets see how long they will survive!!!

The ones in the MINI Cooper are pretty insane, you can burn yourself with them. But having said that, on a really cold morning you want it to "go to 11" when you are warming up the car. Then you turn it down.
