FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--Europe's biggest auto maker Volkswagen AG (VOW.XE) said Tuesday it is too early to say if it should be concerned about possible bottlenecks at its Japanese suppliers as a result of the country's crisis.

"It is still not foreseeable today to what extent Japanese suppliers could be affected by bottlenecks," Volkswagen board member Jochem Heizmann said at the sidelines of a media event in Munich.

"We first need to gain a detailed overview of the situation at numerous Japanese suppliers. This primarily affects tier-2 and tier-3 suppliers," he said.
