Cheaper version of Chevrolet Volt already on its way!
A source told favstocks.com that a much cheaper variant of the Chevrolet Volt is possible. Reportedly, both Chevrolet and GM have the technologies required for a new Volt to be priced about $10,000 lower than the current generation. The Chevrolet Volt has received criticism for being too expensive for the key attributes that it offers. When companies introduce a replacement for an existing product or service, I'd like them to think in terms of...
- Better for the same money, or
- As good for less money

For me, they're off the mark by telling me "instead of your current internet service, we offer something much slower and with a lower bandwidth cap, but it costs less." Ditto with the "possible" Volt. If GM cuts corners and makes it a notably worse car, they'll have to make it a LOT cheaper.

The problem with the current Volt isn't that it's a bad car, it's that the competition has more compelling alternatives for the same money, or something comparable for less money.

lol ... quote from the article

GM even claims to have a range of more than 40 miles in electric mode. However, Consumer Reports only recorded a range of 25 to 27 miles in electric mode. As a result, it came to a conclusion that the Prius is a better choice than the Volt. David Champion, the senior director of Consumer Reports auto testing center, said that in driving about 70 miles, a Prius offers more miles per gallon than the Volt does.

A cheaper American car is always a worse American car.

Hmm, a cheaper version of Volt makes me wonder how it would be. Honestly, I don't see the Volt as luxurious as the price tag suggested.

I thought the "Car of the Year for 2011" would put a dent in Prius sells. Guess not.

Chevy Fizzle would seem more appropriate.

Kinda like what you do with BMW (mentioning them) on threads that doesn't have anything to do with BMW. Hypocritical much?
