2012 Nissan GT-R Video: A Promise Fulfilled
The new and improved 2012 Nissan GT-R has arrived. And in blistering time. After throwing down a record-breaking 7:24:22 at Nürburgring, it's now the fastest GT-R ever. With a 530-horsepower, twin-turbo V6 and 448 lb-ft of torque, it's easy to see why. And with innovations like an increased down force of 10% coupled with a decreased drag coefficient of 0.26 — its improved fuel economy (16 city/23 hwy)* is almost too good to be true.

Astonishing accomplishment, being the world's fastest production car on the 'Ring. Kudos Nissan!

PS: Styling, especially that front end with the Evo-style gaping hole grill, is not my cup of tea.

It doesn't have to, it can already beat them.

Absolute Madness Performance by the 2012 Nissan GT-R, to bad the weather got worse because I can see this Nissan GT-R doing 7:22 or even lower. I would definitely love to own and drive this Nissan GT-R.

Toyota I hope you're watching this and planning to bring back the Legendary Toyota Supra that offer similar performance and price.

you're kidding right? The Supra was a great performance car but it was never a GTR contender. The Z yes. so IF toyota ever brings back the Supra it will not come close to the numbers the GTR generates. Toyota tried it with the LFA and, though it performs great, it still does not match the performance of the GTR.

nah LFA still faster around track

What are the LFA's times? I think you may have missed a very pertinent point: Today, the GTR is the fastest production car on the 'Ring. That means the LFA has not bested it.

Yawn. Call me when it takes on a Veyron SS.

My understanding is that the Veyron's claim to fame is straight line top speed, and not good lap times on twisty tracks. Totally different game.

Steve,

The Veyron posted the best lap on Top Gear's race-track.

The Veyron Bugatti only beat the Nissan GT-R in a straight line race but on the track, the Nissan GT-R will beat it alive and spit it back out. I belief Bugatti Veyron Never try to set time on the Nurburgring but on Top Gear it time was way slower than the Nissan GT-R.

And rumor has it that the Veyron run about 7:40 on the Nurburgring. And even "IF" it true is still slower than the Nissan GT-R. But the Veyron cost like what almost $2,000,000?

Ok kids here are the track times, and no the LFA, Corvette, Ferrari, nor the Bugatti are faster.

Amazing, the GT-R remains the king of the ring! This machine keeps getting more and more intense each year. Good job Nissan.

Ok, official beginning of Porsche whining.
The (7:22.10) 2009 Viper ACR-X (US-V10 engine) is a purpose-built race car, and is not street-legal.
The (7:14.89) Donkervoort D8 GT (Netherlands-Audi L4T engine) is has some street-legal models. Limited to only 50 units/year.
The (6:48.00) Radical SR8 LM (England-V8) is a purpose-built race car, and is not street-legal.
The (7:11.57) 2009 Gumpert Apollo Speed (German, -Audi V8T engine) is not the street-legal model.
The base model Gumpert Apollo street-legal is limited to only 25 units/year.
The (7:18.00) 2011 Porsche 911 997 GT2 RS (German-Boxer6T engine) $245,000.00 is street-legal model. Limited to only 500 units/year.
Porsche is worried and may accuse of Nissan of cheating again once GT-R goes below 7:18.00.

Because it can attempt to beat Porsche in Nürburgring (Nordschleife) lap track times in a controlled environment without a scratch to the car, (like every other car who is tested in Nürburgring), rather than take the chance of some deranged kamikaze Porsche driver damaging the GT-R in the 24 Hours Nürburgring race.
