Seems like the Jpan Earthquake is giving everybody an excuse to raise prices. My rent just went up because of the earthquake j/k.

Gouging. Pure and simple. And there's an easy way for consumers to stick it to those greedy vendors: Stick with what you have, maintain instead of relacing, and don't pay the "Greed Premium."

Remember, the current circumstances are temporary. Things will normalize. The only reason that retailers can exploit consumers is that consumers allow themselves to be exploited.

There is nothing to suggest that the earthquake will increase demand.
OTOH, reduced supplies of Japanese manufactured vehicles and Japanese sourced automobile parts used by North American manufacturing will likely put upward pressure on prices for a short period of time.
