Next-gen Saab 9-3 to receive a modular chassis

Instead of adopting and updating the current 9-3 platform for its next generation of models, Saab has decided to come up with a completely new architecture and components that could be stretched from a 4.2m long ‘9-2’ to a 5.5m-long ‘9-7’, according to Autocar sources in Trollhattan. But insiders say that even with the announcement of this costlier and ‘future-proof’ approach, there are currently concrete plans only for the new 9-3 and replacements for the 9-5 and 9-4x.
