VW preparing Ferrari beater?

This is a street-legal jet car on full afterburner. The car has two engines: the production gasoline engine in the front driving the front wheels and the jet engine in the back. The idea is that you drive around legally on the gasoline engine and when you want to have some fun, you spin up the jet and get on the burner (you can start the jet while driving along on the gasoline engine). The car was built because I wanted the wildest street-legal ride possible. With this project, I was able to use some stuff I learned while getting my fancy engineering degree (I have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University) to design a street-legal jet car without the distraction of how other people have done it in the past - because no one has. I don't know how fast the car will go and probably never will. The car was built to thrill me, not kill me. That doesn't stop me from the occasional blast on the highway though.

Actually that is the new TDI BioDiesel Bug. Based off of research from the Audi R10 Lemans cars. Originally designed to compete with the Toyota Prius and the Ferrari F40. There is a "W" button on the dash, similar to the M series button in the M6 that instead of a 100hp increase gives you 15,000lb thrust boost. The only problem is you go from 47 miles per gallon, to 47 gallons per mile. But the rush is pretty cool.

Pretty sure the VW gets better MPG then the Ferraris =) I sure hope he modified the suspension, because the Bug was not designed to handle 1350HP. lol

Hey,

Serious question; Where does the intake air come from? I can just see this thing sucking off clothing, hair pieces, cash out of your pocket and who knows what else. Do you have to keep the windows open? What about the noise? Isn't it pretty loud in there? You could wear ear plugs I guess but still should be pretty noisy being that close. Does it really produce thrust? Anything faster than 130mph in a bug has got to be pretty scarey. I would also be worried about shutting it down.

Hey, you should bring that thing over here to Phoenix. Remember the old myth about the guy who strapped the rocket to the roof of a '68 Impala and crashed it into a mountain? Maybe you could pull a mythbuster!
