VIDEO: Lexus Responds To Owner's Commercial Recreation
It was only over the weekend that we came across video of a current Lexus LS owner experimenting with his very own recreation of the infamous LS400 commercial where it is on a dyno with wine glasses. Long story short, in that spot the wine glasses didn't break.

In the owner's recreation they did.

Well, Lexus was quick to respond with its very own interpretation that brings together the same champagne glasses and a 2011 Lexus LS460L. Even better, it went back-to-back with a 1990 Lexus LS400.

**Watch Lexus' response down below

Does the 1990 Lexus LS 400 commercial featuring champagne glasses on the hood of a running car stand the test of time? We found the same type of glasses, a 1990 LS 400 and a 2011 LS 460L and decided to find out.

The 1UZ from the old LS400 was a much more relaxed engine than the direct injected 1UR engine in the new 460. More power/acceleration at the expense of NVH. Not surprised that the glasses fell off of new 460.

@stickshift

Well, if you take a look at all the videos you'll notice the owner's video used wine glasses where as the video from Lexus corporate shows them using the RIGHT glasses from the old-school LS400 ad, which were champagne glasses...

Could of had a factor [shrug]

"I don't understand why people are begging for Direct Injection"?

Better fuel mileage. Or are things like smooth idle and minimal operational noises more important to you?

not just better fuel mileage, but more power at the same time.

While everyone is focusing on the champagne glasses in the video, I couldn't help but notice how cheap the dash details look up close, especially the thumbwheel for the air vent.
