Say It Isn't So, A $57,000 Ford Flex

Say It Isn't So, A $57,000 Ford Flex
There is something incredibly peculiar about the 2011 Ford Flex Titanium being offered for sale on eBay right this very second. Mostly the fact its "Buy it now" price is listed at $57,435. Not to mention its sticker says it should list at $52,435.

So, not only is this an absurdly-priced Flex but on top of that the dealer wants another $5,000 on top of it? Wow.

Then you have to slow down for one second and put it into perspective: what else sells for $57,000 large ones? Hell, instead of getting what seemingly looks like a wannabe Range Rover wagon, why not opt for a real Land Rover and get into an LR4? Upon closer inspection, you could probably snap up a used Range Rover Sport for that kind of change!

With that said, we're going to let you unleash your views: what else would you want to drive for $57,000 besides a Ford Flex?

Kind of stepping on Lincolns toes. Ford has to stop moving Ford products upmarket like this if they want to keep Lincoln, otherwise they will have to price lincolns up there with Cadillac, Japan and Germanys big 3 Luxury automakers, and with the product lineup they have now, they are nowhere near even being slightly competitive with any of these brands.

Lincoln wishes it had something as good looking as the Flex.

But over fity for a Flex is hard to swallow.

No way a loaded one should over high 30's.

LR4's are junk? At least the Flex will be reliable. I do agree however that $57K is outrageous for nearly anything with a Ford badge on it...'cept maybe a GT or a GT500.

I'm not getting the point of the article. The Tahoe Hybrid starts at 51k and you can easily get a Suburban or something similar priced this high.

Ford just took the easy route and instead of offering options just FULLY LOADED a vehicle and gave it a Titanium badge. Same as the upcoming Focus. I personally don't see anything wrong with this as offering a model with all the bells and whistles saves a person from checking off too many boxes.

Acura did this pretty successfully with the Tech Package offering. Saying here is everything, have a nice day. Sure sales may be on the low side, but just as car companies use their high end cars (LF-A, GT-R, Mustang GT500, Camaro SS, etc.) to lure people into dealerships, Ford is broadening the lineup offering a high end model of each.

Not everyone looks at the GT500 and wants to run to a Ford dealer to get a van. But similarly not every person sees a Flex Titanium and wants to run for the Mustang. So why not offer something that appeals to everyone with the "you could have it featured like this" mantra.

Compact cars? Over the past generations, the A4 and 3-Series have grown exponentially.

If you have to go to mpgfacts.com to state your case that's when you know you're stretchin' it.

And just about...no one... considers an A8 -- short wheelbase -- a midsize.

Sad, this doesnt even include the three row Vista roof. Although Im a fan of the Flex, I cant say I'd even spend 40K for one. Im pretty sure with all of the people in the world with $$$ to spend on what they want when they want, this vehicle will find a home though.

Pops has a tuned Flex and has beaten a few new 5.0s at the strip. Put that into perspective. The truckster is just as fast as both of his modded G8 GTs.

Not sure what was disagreeable in my comment. My point is, there is more to these cars than meets the eye. Obviously a modded 5.0 would walk a modded Flex all things being equal. Oh well.
