BMW's Got Something Up Its Sleeve For The Tokyo Motor Show
According to recent reports, it seems that BMW's M division is going to be brewing up an interesting piece for the Tokyo Motor Show come December. And just like other brands, the M concept is suppose to have a focus on lightweight materials.

Considering the growing size and heft of vehicles today, particularly BMWs, this is a wise move. Additionally, this may be the perfect opportunity for BMW to show off what is capable with carbon fiber reinforced plastics, aluminum, thermo-plastics and magnesium.

Where things get particularly interesting is when you consider the possibilities when coupled with BMW's Project i. Keep in mind that the "i3" and "i8" have been spotted testing.

Perhaps BMW will unveil its very first green M. Just think, that use to be considered an oxymoron.

This years Tokyo Motor Show in December will show us a BMW M Power lightweight concept. The engineering concept will show the possibilities of how BMW M can improve on the use of lightweight materials in the bodyshell and chassis...

IMO, the new i8 or whatever you want to call it, is as original as it is ugly. The rear is 10x uglier than the Aztek and almost any view except maybe directly in front creates a hideous profile. This is all good for creativity and experimentation I suppose, but weight saving technology for others like Audi is already in place in much more practical ways, as it is being applied across the production lines, not just a concept vehicle. TT-RS vs 1M is a good comparison of Audi's leadership in materials and weight saving technology, at only 20 lbs difference between Audi's quattro loaded TT and BMWs tiny 1M.

More to come thanks to the share of composites technology with Lamborghini and the already industry leading aluminum space frames. First they (BMW , MB) follow AWD, then ASF, the double-clutch, then front facial grill (not so much BMW or MB), then LED eyebrow lighting, now weight saving tech. I can't bring myself to admire copy cats for some reason.

Waiting for the 2012 A6, promising to be another class leading vehicle for Audi with second generation LED technology, new ASF, new electronics, and performance to beat anything in its class.

This concept vehicle is a deomonstration of what will available in upcoming production cars, and it will go way beyond what any other car manufacture is doing in terms of mass production.

Your an Audi fanboi, your list of audi inovations is cute, but its ultimatly one sided like your opiinons. If you listed all of BMW's inovations that other car makers copy the list would be much longer.
