Paradigm Shift: EU Set To Ban Fossil Fuel Vehicles By 2050

Petrol and diesel-engined passenger cars should not allowed in European city centres by 2050, the European Commission has proposed.

The proposals, outlined to EU governments today by EC transport commissioner Siim Kallas, are designed to help cut Europe’s carbon emissions and reduce dependence on oil by up to 60 per cent. They are not an attack on personal mobility, the EC claims.

Also included in the radical transport plan is a proposal for the majority of journeys of 190-miles or less to take place by train.

They should make the pollution requirements very stringent but to ban them seems like it could spell a big decline for those cities as people would end up not going there but instead shopping/visiting etc... Places that are accessible by car. Oh i know they have great public transportation but that would not replace all the traffic.

Have you ever been to Europe? As long as the ban is city centres only....this isn't as big a deal.

In Paris 58% of people DO NOT own car. Of the remaining 42% more than a third use their car once a month or less.

Other things that will be done by 2050 according to the EU:

1. Bigfoot will be found
2. Every French person who lived during the War will stop saying they were all with the Resistance

5. Pluto will become a planet once again
