Toyota failed to warn of acceleration risk, lawyer says
George N. Statfeld of Manhattan, a lawyer for emergency room physician Amir Sitafalwalla, said Toyota Motor Corp. failed to warn Sitafalwalla that his vehicle could unexpectedly accelerate. Sitafalwalla claims his 2005 Scion sped up uncontrollably and did not stop until he hit a tree. Filed in 2008 in federal court in Central Islip, the suit is the first such claim against Toyota to reach a jury trial in the U.S.

I can just see firearms manufacturers having to cover their butts for situations like this: "Warning! We do not recommend that you use this firearm in the commission of a crime, or in the unintentional shooting of innocent persons. In the event of such occurrences, you, the owner or operator, agree to hold harmless and indemnify the Manufacturer of this firearm, and/or the manufacturer of the amunition, and the suppliers of the afforementioned items."
