RENDERED SPECULATION: Could This Be Audi's X6 Challenger, The Q6?

RENDERED SPECULATION: Could This Be Audi's X6 Challenger, The Q6?
From this angle, it appears that Audi is following BMW's footsteps by strategically filling niches in the automotive luxury market. First it was with the Q's, then Audi beat BMW with the A7; however, it looks like the next mission is to take down the X6.

In this rendering by Milos Dvorak, the "Q6" looks like a cross between the A7 four-door coupe and A3 Concept, which recently made its debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. It has the A7 roofline and the A3's taillights, wheels and "face."

With that said, if Audi were to create a Q6 like this, where would it read on your radar? Red hot or stone cold?

The X6 is under attack! In its quest to fill every niche in the premium market, Audi is preparing a coupé-style SUV, likely to be called the Q6 – and our exclusive images show just what to expect.

The newcomer will be gunning for the controversial BMW X6, which has proved a runaway ?success, selling more than 110,000 units. It will be based on the same platform as the new VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, itself a shortened version of ?the Audi Q7’s underpinnings. Sacrificing some of that model’s huge load space, the Q6 will compensate with more style...

Who is following who?

Audi came to the party with the A2, A3, allroad, TT, R8, A7, and A9 coming as well. All of these models defined the class in which BMW did not exist. The A4, A6 and A8 are standard industry configurations. BMW cannot take credit for defining ANY of these classes. The X5 or X3 were not defined by BMW either, as Lexus had already defined this market. If anything the Q7 defined the large luxury sport SUV segment with the first true 7-seater sport-luxury SUV, followed by MB, and the X5 adapting to this capacity late in the game.

Audi led with quattro, now evryone wants to sell AWD models.
Audi led with design, big grille, everyone follows once again.
Audi led with LED eyebrows, now EVERYONE must have them.
Audi went with weight saving technologies and use of ASF, and BMW follows.

Who is following who? You simply are looking at things upside down.

Audi is going electric and hybrid the proper way, that is without compromising performance...

BMW had the M1 back in the 70's. The R8 is in no way ground breaking. The Panamerica came before the A7, and they are similar in concept.
TT? LOL the boxster,SLK, and Z3 came be for that.
The Q6 will obviously be a response to the X6.
The X5 preceded the (late to the game) Q7, as did the X3 with the Q5.

BMW is leading the way in developiung premium electric vehicles, that utilize gound breaking manufacturing processes and an industy first mass produced carbon fiber chassis. VW/audi will surly follow.

How about BMW's M devison? Audi followed with RS.

MeanVulcan is an Audi Fanboy to the point where he's developed a dillusional viewpoint. LOL!! Audi and Toyota/Lexus fans are by far the worse fans out of any of the brands.

... And why does the new Q6 have to look like the X6???

This rendering makes a false assumption that Audi would design a car in the likes of a BMW. Big mistake. Audi's niche vehicles have proven to have radically unique and modern designs, and I don' t think the Q6 will be an exception.

@MeanVulcan

Whoa, whoa. There is nothing radical or unique about the A3.

However, I saw my first A7 on the road today and my God it looks sharp when in traffic.

"Who is following who?" Ode to Audi

Audi invented science. Audi invented math.
Audi invented logic. Audi invented more crap.
Audi invented the flowers and trees and oceans and bees.
Audi invented the wobbly knees. Audi invented rainbows and fairies.
Audi invented MMI to always be near me
Audi invented the quattro, blissfully.
Audi too invented envy, you see
BMW they will never be

"...the controversial BMW X6, which has proved a runaway? success, selling more than 110,000 units"

It is nice to see the red haired step child ruling the roost!
