Mercedes-Benz to chop the top of the S-Class?

Wouldn't it make more sense to cut the roof off the new CL, and have similar interior space but with two doors for more structural rigidity?

The pic gives an excellent impression of what a vinyl roof would look like on an S Class - maybe this will stimulate purchases in the New York and South Florida markets

Dude the SL is based as much on the E Class as the S Class. Plus the CL is a four seater, the SL a 2 or 2+2.

Since when is an SL a 2+2? its a 2 seater convertible, this move (if it happens), is very understandable, the reason for that is because BENTLEY is bringing out the new convertible ARNAGE. which is a SALOON just as the MB S-CLass, i really dont see why people judge MB, the sales will be high if this comes out. Just because it will be the new thing, this is not the only picture that is released on what it will look like, it seems like they will do a different exterior design, or just REFRESH it a bit.

I can't imagine the amount of storage the top would need. Trunk will be stuffed unless MB is planned on a coupe S. Has to be just a concept, I cannot see it in production.

I have seen the S in person and it is a very nice ride!

Or maybe they will just call it the CL cabriolet, and only have 2 doors.... would seem much more logical....imagine the body flex with 2 doors on a car with a wheelbase that size and no roof!
