SPYSHOTS: Production Infiniti G35 sedan caught in testing

Cool...it was very nice of MB to let Infiniti use its CLS front end. The rear has not changed as drastic as the front clip, but the tail lights definitely look funky. Gotta see it in person.

but this one is still the most handsome in the class.....

I agree I have never been attracted to the sedan version. I think the new coupe is going to look good though, the prior gen looked great.

Better than at the show, I agree. The interior looks better. But the front and the rear are still not to inspiring. The engine however, should be the rea key. It is sopposed to be much improved. Why can't they tell us the horsepower already?

the interior is still way behind the germans. and it looks like infiniti is the latest company to steal the hofmeister kink - a pointless design element which ensures a large blind spot.

the hofmeister kink did not originate with the germans. early 1950s chevys had the very same kink on the fastback sedans.

i do agree it is a pointless design.

is that a quasi I-Drive controller below the nav screen!? maybe the ONLY sensible use for a round 'joystick' IS moving a cursor on a map!)

at least there are REAL functional turny-twisty knobs for the radio. why did anyone EVER think those had to be re-invented? any "progression" from DIRECT control to a multi-step approach is plain REGRESSION.

Undergoing warm weather testing in Phoenix Arizona. It was driving southbound on the I-17 a few months ago. It really doesn't attract much attention. The only reason I even looked at it to begin with was because the badging was taped up. If it had been completely undisguised, I wouldn't have noticed it at all.

One big ergonomic flaw I see in all of the interiors of these new Infinity products is the placement of the Navi display and operating buttons. If you have really long legs it looks as if you would need to scoot the seat forward to reach the controls. The display is high enough on the dash to as to avoid diverting attention too far from the road but you need to lean forward to operate anything. Lexus has the same problem with their system.

The Infiniti Controller is very easy to use, unlike the iDrive. There are primary function buttons around the knob, instead of pushing it in different directions, it only rotates. The select function is a button in the center. You can also use the 4 way buttons on the top of the knob. <br>

The placement is a bit far, looking from the photos, but most functions can be voice controlled so you don't even need to take your hands from the steering wheel.<br>

I use to love BMWs, but got an FX45 last year. It's a lot of fun and was a lot cheaper. The tech is better than what was available on the X5 and X5. It feels like it has some emotion, unlike the teutonic themes found in BMW. The ride is actually stiffer than my old 3 series and out performes it in every way.

I agree, those were some very good points that you made. All Japanese car companies is steal designs and technology from American and German automakers.

Don't have too many complaints. Looks pretty good. I like the black better than the silver Infiniti put out on the NYIAS floor. I noticed that they did away with the shark fin antenna of the pre production model (that's a plus). I'm hoping the chrome trunk lip spoiler is optional. Say what you will about the M and now G35 round taillights but...I kind of like them. The interior looks very, very nice. One big complaint...why oval tailpipes?! Looks good overall.

This car is a spitting image of a lexus IS. I cannot believe no one sees the similarities between the interior design and lexus' interior design. Not to mention the tail lights and the striking similarity in the front. Once again, in my opion, Infiti falls WAY behind everyone else and is left copying the masses.

Look like you need a pair of new eyes or some art education. You cannot say it's a copy just because they both have NAV screen at top. M35/45 already had that NAV at that position 2yrs ago and so per you logic IS copied that? Ridiculous. Tail and front? Well where? They are totally different concepts for these 2 cars.
The currnet G35 beats BMW in every way in term of performance, though not driving feel. The new one will play that trick again. Wait for the car magazine reviews coming in Nov, we'll see a good comparison between G35, C350, 335i and IS350! Sorry Audi and Acura- FWD & AWD are not admitted here.
